Congratulations to Juliana D'Alessandro, Our 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Juliana D’Alessandro, Our 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year

St. Mark School is proud to share that fourth-grade teacher Juliana D’Alessandro has been named our Teacher of the Year for 2025-2026, and has been recognized by the Archdiocese of Baltimore as its Archdiocesan Elementary School Teacher of the Year.

The news came the way the best news usually does, as a complete surprise. On May 7, her classroom door opened and in walked our principal alongside Gregory Farno, chancellor for schools of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, to announce the honor in front of her students. Two other educators were recognized the same day, one from Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn and one from Maryvale Preparatory School in Lutherville, making Mrs. D’Alessandro one of three teachers honored across the entire Archdiocese this year.

The Archdiocesan Teacher of the Year recipients are selected by a committee of Catholic school leaders. In announcing the awards, Sister Patricia McCarron, SSND, superintendent of Catholic schools, noted that these educators reflect the very best of Catholic education through their dedication, compassion, and commitment to forming both the minds and the hearts of their students.

Anyone who has spent time in her fourth-grade classroom understands why she was chosen. She holds high expectations for her students and gives them the support to meet those expectations. She knows when a child needs to be pushed and when a child needs to be encouraged. And she carries out her work in a way that reflects the faith at the center of everything we do at St. Mark.

An honor like this belongs to a community as well as to an individual. Great teaching happens when families, faculty, and parish support one another, and Mrs. D’Alessandro would be the first to point that out. We are grateful for her, and we are grateful for every teacher on our faculty who shows up for our students the same way each day.
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. D’Alessandro on this well-deserved recognition.
