Arts & Music
Art
At St. Mark School, students in Pre-K through 8th grade enjoy weekly art classes where they engage in hands-on activities, experimenting with various art materials. In the early years, the focus is on the creative process through activities like painting, drawing, and sculpting. As students progress, they gain a deeper understanding of the elements of art and design principles. Middle School students, in particular, concentrate on observational drawing and discovering their unique artistic expression.
Drama
The Drama Club is open to students in grades 5-8, and it provides opportunities to
develop singing, acting, and behind-the-scenes skills. Each year, the club produces a spring play, with auditions held after the play is announced. Students commit to regular play practices, which are essential for a successful performance. Participants are featured in the official playbill and can take on both on-stage and off-stage roles, such as stage crew. Students also have the opportunity to participate in “Drama Camp” during the sumer.
Music
At St. Mark School, students can explore their musical talents through various avenues. Alongside joining the Choir, they have the option to be a part of the lively Glory Singers, who showcase their talents at School Mass. Our music program emphasizes the skillful use of classroom instruments and introduces students to note reading, and music history. Music lessons incorporate dynamic elements like creative listening exercises. Students are inspired to express their creativity through singing or playing instruments.
Band Instruction
St. Mark School proudly provides an enriching Band Program, catering to both introductory and intermediate levels. Students have the exciting opportunity to delve into the world of music, learning to read musical notes, participating in weekly practices, and showcasing their talents during special presentations throughout the school year.
